Fincantieri announced that it has signed a long-term concession with the Central Adriatic Sea Port System Authority for a large portion of the Port of Ancona. The agreement grants the company access to more than 314,000 square meters of land, water areas, and port infrastructure. It will remain valid until 2064, giving the shipbuilder a stable operational horizon for its redevelopment strategy.
The new concession supports a €40 million investment plan aimed at upgrading the Ancona shipyard. With this plan, Fincantieri intends to improve production capacity and strengthen the site’s ability to build and manage large naval units. The company stated that the long-term framework allows it to align future activities with evolving industrial needs.
This agreement follows a cooperative pathway that began in 2017. In recent years, the company and the Port Authority have continued refining their shared objectives, and the concession formalizes that ongoing collaboration. As a result, both sides view the development plan as an opportunity to combine local maritime traditions with more modern shipbuilding methods.
During the signing event, Fincantieri’s leadership highlighted the strategic value of the concession. According to the company, the arrangement supports the creation of an advanced shipbuilding hub that can adapt to emerging market requirements. In addition, the Central Adriatic Sea Port System Authority emphasized that the long-term presence of the shipyard contributes to economic activity across the region.
The Ancona shipyard remains a key site for specialized production. Through this concession, the facility will continue to expand its capabilities and support projects that require advanced engineering and technical expertise. Moreover, the structured agreement enables the shipyard to operate with long-term consistency, which is essential for planning, training, and industrial growth.
As the redevelopment progresses, the updated site is expected to enhance local value creation and support the maritime sector’s broader transition toward more efficient and integrated shipyard operations. The concession also reinforces cooperation between the public authority and the shipbuilder, ensuring that both sides remain aligned with their operational and development goals.
