Fincantieri To Build Two Advanced Cruise Ships For AIDA Cruises

Fincantieri, one of the world’s largest shipbuilding groups, has announced a landmark agreement with Carnival Corporation & plc to design and construct two new cruise ships for AIDA Cruises, a prominent cruise brand serving the German-speaking market.

A First for AIDA and Fincantieri

This agreement marks the first time Fincantieri will build ships for AIDA Cruises, adding a new chapter to the shipbuilder’s decades-long collaboration with Carnival Corporation. Previously, Fincantieri has delivered 75 cruise ships to various brands within Carnival’s portfolio.

  • Delivery Timeline:

    • First ship: Early 2030

    • Second ship: Late 2031

Sustainability and Innovation at the Core

The two vessels will feature approximately 2,100 guest cabins each and will be equipped with multi-fuel engines capable of running on:

  • Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG)

  • Bio-diesel

  • Future sustainable fuels

This aligns with the cruise industry’s decarbonization goals, reinforcing AIDA’s commitment to more sustainable cruising.
