A blaze erupted on 3 May on a motor freighter docked in the Netherlands’ Dintelmond harbour. The fire started as the ship was in port and resulted in an emergency response from onboard personnel and local fire services, reports Safety4Sea.
Fire Started in the Galley
The fire, according to reports, started in the galley of the vessel. Two members of the crew tried to put out the fire before help arrived from outside. Since the fire was extremely intense, extra efforts were needed from local rescue services.

The captain of the vessel received burns on his upper arm and smoke inhalation in the accident. He was taken to the hospital for treatment. There were no other reported injuries.
Cause Under Investigation
The blaze was ultimately brought under control and extinguished. Authorities have yet to give the cause of the fire as well as the extent of damage to the ship. Investigations are still in process.
