Fire in Cargo Ship Hold, Tarragona

On September, a cargo ship reportedly caught fire, the fire is said to have originated from the empty cargo hold.

What happened?

The cargo vessel ‘Bahia De Alcudia’ caught fire while it was preparing to load a cargo of coal. The vessel was docked for loading in the Tarragona port of Spain.

The fire is reported to have originated in the empty cargo hold and was brought under control within a couple of hours.

SAR ship deployed:

The port officials deployed two SAR ships and fire engine to contain the fire. The extent to which the fire has ravaged the cargo vessel remains unknown.

Fortunately, none of the crew members were injured during the fire. An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the fire. The vessel continues to be docked at the port awaiting further instructions.
