Fire Damages Offshore Supply Ship

An offshore supply vessel, which was engulfed by fire from the engine room, managed to extinguish the outbreak by its own means, reports Maritime Bulletin.

What happened?

Offshore supply ship WILSON ARCTIC suffered fire in the engine room. The fire started at around 1300 UTC Jul 6 in the North sea, N of Domburg, Zeeland, Netherlands. 

The ship was en route from Vlissingen to BORSELLE2 (offshore wind farm). 

Fire extinguished and ship turned back

According to reports, the crew managed to extinguish fire by their own means. The ship suffered damages and had to interrupt the voyage and turn back. 

KNRM boats assisted and escorted damaged WILSON ARCTIC, while she proceeded to Vlissingen at a reduced speed.
