On February 25, a fire reportedly broke out in the galley of a vessel on the Danube and the crew members were having a hard time bringing it under control.
What happened?
The vessel ‘Rossini’ was travelling on the Danube river when a fire reportedly broke out in its galley. The reason of the fire remains unknown and has not yet been ascertained.
The crew members were unable to extinguish the fire with water and towels and it reportedly started spreading an tackled by fire brigade experts in Linz.
Crew members safe
The fryer of the river cruise ship which was currently at its winter berth in Linz was alight at 6.10 p.m. Smoke quickly spread onto several decks and all 23 crew members were brought to safety, seven of them were transferred to University Hospital as a precaution by the rescue service. The interior was then ventilated by the fire department.
The vessel is currently docked at the port for further survey and investigation.
