On September 1st a fire broke out in the ship’s engine room of the cruise ship “SeaDream I” while the ship was off the coast of Calabria, in southern Italy.
The fire occurred while the ship was between Amalfi and Palinuro with 105 passengers and 61 crew members aboard. The small fire in the engine room was promptly extinguished and all guests and crew were unharmed. The passengers were disembarked at sea onto a high-speed ferry for transport to Naples. From there they were bussed to Rome.
The company’s marine and technical staff is reportedly evaluating necessary repairs of SeaDream I. The fire’s cause is being investigated.
SeaDream Yacht Club reported that the next cruise of the Sea Dream I, scheduled to depart Rome on September 3, has been canceled.
