First Female Captain In Japan

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has appointed Naomi Matsushita as the captain of the car carrier Beluga Ace, making her the first female seafarer to serve as a captain in a Japanese oceangoing shipping company. Matsushita assumed her new role on June 6.

Naomi Matsushita, the newly appointed captain of the car carrier Beluga Ace at MOL, has gained extensive experience in various onboard roles such as car carriers and containerships. She has also contributed onshore in areas like business division support and ship management, utilizing her onboard experience and skills.
