In recent weeks, Lloyd’s Register FOBAS analysed a number of maritime gas oil samples in Balboa, Panama, and found sulphur levels exceeding 0.11% m/m as reported by Bunkerspot.

Fuel testing agency

According to the fuel testing agency, the bunker delivery notes (BDN) for all these fuels stated sulphur content below 0.10%m/m. It is assumed that these fuels had been purchased for use in emission control areas (ECAs).

FOBAS notes that although the results were marginally high at 0.12%m/m this is still outside the allowed test tolerance range of the 0.10%m/m limit which is a maximum of 0.11 % m/m.
