France LNG Shipping Takes Delivery Of New LNG Carrier Elisa Halcyon

6

A new liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier, Elisa Halcyon, ordered by France LNG Shipping SAS from Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries in South Korea, was completed and delivered on October 31. The vessel will be chartered on a long-term basis up to 20 years to EDF LNG Shipping SAS for LNG transportation, under the ship management of Gazocean.

Advanced Design and Efficient Propulsion

Elisa Halcyon is equipped with a highly efficient dual-fuel slow-speed diesel engine manufactured by WinGD. This X-DF engine can operate on both conventional fuel oil and boil-off gas natural gas that vaporizes during transport. The vessel features a membrane-type cargo tank with a total capacity of 174,000 cubic meters. Its superior insulation minimizes boil-off losses, ensuring optimal performance and fuel efficiency during long voyages.

Cutting-Edge Environmental and Operational Features

To further enhance operational efficiency and reduce environmental impact, Elisa Halcyon incorporates an advanced re-liquefaction system developed by Air Liquide. This system re-liquefies surplus boil-off gas, converting it back into liquid form. The result is improved fuel economy, reduced greenhouse gas emissions, and a lower carbon footprint key factors in sustainable LNG transport.
