Freight Indexes Diverge: CCFI Climbs as SCFI Slips Again

The China Containerized Freight Index (CCFI) rose by 3.4% in Week 46 to reach 1,094.03 points, marking its fourth consecutive weekly increase, reports Container News.

In contrast, the Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI) declined for the second week in a row, dropping 2.9% to 1,451.38 points.

CCFI extends gains while SCFI drops

On major east–west routes, freight rates to Europe increased to 1,403.64 points, while rates to the Mediterranean climbed more noticeably to 1,601.86 points. Rates to the U.S. West Coast dipped slightly to 846.24 points, and the U.S. East Coast also saw a decline, settling at 967.48 points.

North–south trades showed mixed results. Rates to South America inched down 0.9% to 678.24 points, while those to Australia and New Zealand rose 2.8% to 1,208.81 points. The Middle East and Red Sea route experienced a significant jump of 11.6%, reaching 1,163.39 points. Southern Africa saw a 1.5% rise to 1,410.96 points, and East and West Africa continued their strong performance with a 2.1% increase to 4,919.49 points.

Within intra-Asia trades, freight rates to Southeast Asia grew 5.1% to 871.00 points. Rates to Japan slipped marginally by 0.1% to 978.58 points, and those to South Korea declined 1.5% to 479.94 points.
