General cargo ship ran aground on northwest Crete island coast in Kissamos Bay, reports Maritime Bulletin.

What happened?

General cargo ship ran aground in the morning Jan 25 on northwest Crete island coast in Kissamos Bay, while en route from Iskenderun Turkey to Misrata Libya.

According to an unconfirmed confirmed report, the ship broke in two. Weather was supposed to be the main cause of the disaster. Ship apparently, tried to find a shelter from a storm, but either went out of control, or couldn’t hold on against wind and sea, and finally, ran aground on the beach.

10 crew were rescued, 2 of them reportedly had to be hospitalize with hypothermia. She’s loaded with cargo of steel.
