General cargo ship FRANCISCA lost containers at around midday Oct 31 due to stormy weather in the North sea west of Duncansby Head, northeast tip of Scotland. She was en route from Iceland to Rotterdam.
The ship turned back, passed Pentland Firth and sailed in the northwest direction, to wait out stormy weather.
Containers lost
According to reports, at least 33 containers were lost. UK CG is reported to be responding with deployment of tug, plane and coastal navigational providers.
FRANCISCA, as of 0230 UTC Nov 2, was reported to be cruising in legs back and forth, alongside the northernmost Scotland coast.
Her struggle seems to continue as containers left on board remain in danger of falling overboard.
