On December 12, a cargo vessel reportedly lost its steering control for the second time in three weeks.
What happened?
The cargo vessel ‘Kasra 1’ reportedly lost its steering control for the second time on the Volga-Caspian Sea Canal at kilometer mark 148, while proceeding towards the Caspian sea. The cargo vessel was loaded with steel and timber enroute from Astrakhan to Enzeli when the incident occurred.
Ship anchors:
The cargo vessel allegedly dropped its anchor to prevent running into any other mishaps and moored at the Canal.
This is the second time that the vessel had reportedly lost control of its steering. On November 22, the vessel lost control when steering through the Volga river and suffered water ingress into the steering compartment, which was flooded.
The ship was brought to anchor outside the fairway. At that time the “Kasra 1” was loaded with 2320 tons of general cargo also bound from Astrakhan to Enzeli.
