- Freighter Suffers a 45 degree List
- All 15 Russian seamen safely evacuated
On Aug 21, a Russian freighter Alfa reportedly suffered a heavy list of 45 degrees, to starboard side, after a part of the deck cargo of timber shifted and went overboard in the Korean Strait.
On Monday all 15 Russian crew members onboard that vessel has been successfully evacuated, according to Russian rescue center report.
The cargo ship remains afloat in the sea passage between Japan and South Korea. The rescuers’ spokesperson said they were considering whether the coast guard needed to step in to tow the vessel away.
“Fifteen Russian seamen have been evacuated, there have been no casualties,” a spokesperson at the Vladivostok-based maritime rescue and coordination center told RIA Novosti.
