Motorists should expect a fuel price hike next week, reports eNCA.

Fuel price hike

Data from the Central Energy Fund suggests all fuel types — except diesel — will rise. The data shows that 93 unleaded petrol will increase by 32 cents a litre while 95 unleaded will see a rise of 25 cents a litre.

The price of diesel is set to decrease by six cents a litre and illuminating paraffin will cost eight cents more. The rising cost of brent crude is the main factor influencing prices.

China, which is the world’s largest oil consumer, has opened up its economy after a period of strict lockdown restrictions, pushing up demand.

The average rand value against the dollar has also weakened over the last few weeks.
