Fujian Shipping Group Signs Contract for Dual-Fuel Bulk Carriers

On September 19, 2024, Fujian Shipping Group successfully signed a contract with Jiangsu Haitong Offshore Engineering Equipment Co., Ltd. for the construction of two 82,000-ton dual-fuel bulk carriers, with an option for two additional vessels. This contract marks a significant milestone in the company’s fleet development strategy.

Focus on Methanol Dual-Fuel Technology and Sustainability

The new vessels will feature advanced methanol dual-fuel technology, optimized hull designs, and upgraded main engines. These improvements are aimed at increasing cargo capacity, boosting transport efficiency, and enhancing versatility. Additionally, the new ships align with global sustainability efforts by reducing energy consumption and lowering emissions, supporting China’s “dual-carbon” goals.

Commitment to Fleet Modernization

Mr. Wu Liangqi, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Fujian Shipping Group, emphasized that this contract signals a new chapter in the company’s ongoing fleet modernization efforts. By phasing out aging tonnage and introducing larger, smarter, and greener vessels, Fujian Shipping Group continues to position itself as a leader in sustainable shipping practices.

The signing of the “2+2” bulk carrier contract follows the company’s recent investment in two 64,000-ton vessels, further demonstrating Fujian Shipping Group’s commitment to fleet expansion and modernization.
