GAC has expanded its operational footprint in Belgium by acquiring the port agency business of Ahlers Belgium NV, reads the company’s website.

Service expansion in ARA region

Ivo Verheyen, the GAC Group’s Vice President – Europe, says: “The GAC family in Belgium, throughout Europe and around the world welcomes the Ahlers Belgium agency team aboard. With them, we look forward to expanding our services in and around the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) region.”

He added, “For the last three years, GAC Belgium has specialised in agency and dry bulk services at all of the country’s ports. With our new colleagues, we are determined to continue to deliver the highest levels of service and local knowledge that our clients can rely on.”

Focus on supply chain 

Roel Vanmaele, Managing Director of Ahlers Belgium NV, adds: “This transfer is part of a drive to sharpen Ahlers’ focus on supply chain management and logistics. With its global network and local relationships, GAC is extremely well positioned to serve the port agency business in Antwerp.”
