France’s first liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering vessel Gas Vitality on 30 December completed its first LNG loading operation at the Fos Cavaou LNG Terminal operated by Elengy – ENGIE GROUP at Port de Marseille Fos, says an article published in Manifold Times.

About the vessel

The vessel is expected to undergo its inaugural bunkering operation in due course, informs TotalEnergies in a social media update on Monday (3 January).

Gas Vitality underwent a naming ceremony at the Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding in China during late October.

The 18,600-m³ newbuild bunker vessel is TotalEnergies Marine Fuels’ second collaboration with shipowner Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd (MOL) and shipbuilder, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding following the signing of a long-term charter contract in November 2019.

Bunkering services to CMA CGM

Classed by Bureau Veritas and operated by V.Ships France under the French flag, the Gas Vitality will be based in the Port of Marseille-Fos, Southern France, to serve the Mediterranean region.

She will notably perform LNG bunkering services to CMA CGM’s LNG-fuelled containerships and MSC Cruises’ upcoming LNG-powered cruise ships calling at the Port of Marseille-Fos.
