The Arrival Of FSRU At Alexandroupoli Port

Gastrade’s converted tanker, now an FSRU, arrived at Alexandroupoli port after its conversion in Singapore. Konstantinos Sifnaios, Gastrade SA’s VP, detailed the mooring schedule and the FSRU’s role in Southeastern Europe’s energy infrastructure, reports Ekathimerini.

Key Operational Timeline

The vessel currently sits at Alexandroupoli’s port anchorage and will relocate 17 kilometres southwest to its permanent position near Makri.

Within a week, weather permitting, the ship will be secured with 12 anchors—six at the front and six at the back—with specialized tug assistance.

Strategic Energy Implications

The FSRU stands as a crucial gateway for natural gas entry in Southeastern Europe.

It significantly diversifies natural gas supply sources, bolstering energy infrastructure security in the region.
