Gener8 Neptune – The First Of 21 VLCCs Delivered

Gener8 Maritime Inc., on 17th September 2015, announced that they had taken delivery of the first of the 21 “ECO VLCCs” they had ordered for from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering company.  The Gener8 Neptune  was delivered on the 11th September 2015.

The CEO and Chairman of Gener8 Maritime Inc. Peter Georgiopoulos is quoted to have commented: “We are pleased to have taken delivery of the first ship in our ‘ECO’ VLCC newbuilding program and look forward to building out our VLCC fleet as we take deliveries from our current order book over the next 18 months.  Upon delivery, the Gener8 Neptune will be entered into Navig8’s VL8 Pool. “

Gener8 Maritime Inc. now, after the merger owns a fleet of 47 vessels including a time-chartered-in VLCC.  Out of this, owned by Gener8’s are 20 new built VLCCs and 26 vessels on the water comprising of:

  • 8 VLCCs,
  • 11 Suexmax vessels,
  • 4 Aframax vessels,
  • 2 Panamax vessels and
  • One Handymax product carrier with an average carrying capacity of over 11.1 million deadweight tons.  The average age on a DWT basis of less than six years upon delivery of the new buildings.
