General Cargo Carrier Runs Aground Twice!

Rix Amethyst runs aground

General cargo ship Rix Amethyst ran aground while leaving Rudkobing, Langeland island, Denmark, in the afternoon of May 18.

The ship carrying barley was bound for Bremen, Germany.

Grounded again

Tug was called and the ship was refloated in an hour and a half. While maneuvering after refloating, Rix Amethyst stern entangled with fairway buoy, shifting it from its’ position.

Rix Amethyst grounded again, but this time she managed to refloat under own power, in about half of an hour.

She passed under Rudkobing Bridge and was anchored for inspection. There were no or sloght damages, and she resumed voyage in the evening same day.
