A General cargo vessel Hai Truong 36 (1,013 dwt, built 2002) has run aground on July 5 off the coast of Binh Thuan province, South Vietnam.
The vessel was carrying rice from Hai Phong.
Though the vessel was tilted to 20 degrees, it managed to avoid capsizing through ballasting. Local rescue teams have already been sent to the spot. Almost 500 tonnes of rice have already been offloaded and refloating will start very soon.
