On January 16, 2025, the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping, as reported by Safety4Sea, announced Giorgos Spyrou Alexandratos as its newly elected president. The elections also introduced new members to key leadership roles, including Giorgos Gavriil as vice president, Antonia Ludarou as a Governing Committee member, and Giorgos Zafeiroudis joining the Board of Directors in the A’ Category of ships.

A New Era

Alexandratos succeeds Giorgos Pateras, who resigned after a nine-year tenure, citing personal reasons. In his statement, Alexandratos expressed gratitude to the maritime community for their trust and thanked the outgoing president, Dr. Giorgos D. Pateras, for his invaluable contributions to the Chamber and Greek shipping.

Alexandratos emphasized the Chamber’s commitment to maintaining a close partnership with the government on maritime matters. He pledged to continue strengthening the sector’s role in enhancing the national economy and addressing key shipping industry challenges.
