German Boxship Collides with Korean Tanker Off Japan Sea

On October 3, a German container vessel reportedly collided with a Korean chemical tanker in Japan Sea.

What happened?

The German container vessel ‘Victoria Trader’ collided with a 1345-ton Korea chemical tanker near Ulsan, Korea located in the Japan Sea.

Both vessels damaged:

Both the vessels were proceeding in the same direction when the incident occurred. The container ship struck the starboard cargo deck near midship. Both the vessels suffered damages during the collision with container ship sustaining portside bow damage and chemical tanker’s rails were dented with other minor damages.

Both the vessels are currently docked at the Ulsan port for further inspection and repairs. The Korean chemical tanker remains unidentified. An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the collision.
