A spokesman for Germany’s Federal Cartel Office said on Thursday that the planned sale of Maersk’s refrigerated container producer to China International Marine Containers is being investigated further as reported by EuroNews.

The office has launched an investigation into the potential effects of CIMC’s acquisition of the Maersk Container Industry on the affected markets, according to the statement.
In September, the Danish shipping business agreed to sell its container manufacturer to CIMC for $987.3 million.
The plans must yet be approved by regulatory authorities. Until then, the businesses will continue to exist as independent entities.
