GESCO Strengthens Market Position with Strategic Fleet Expansion

11

The Great Eastern Shipping Company Ltd. (GESCO) has acquired a Kamsarmax dry bulk carrier with a capacity of approximately 81,922 DWT. The vessel, built in 2016, is expected to join the company’s fleet by the third quarter of the 2026 fiscal year. This acquisition is being funded entirely through the company’s internal funds.

Impact on GESCO’s Fleet

This is the third vessel acquisition announced by GESCO in recent months, following the purchase of another Kamsarmax dry bulk carrier in July 2025 and a Suezmax crude carrier in August 2025. With these three additions, the company’s fleet will expand from its current 38 vessels to a total of 41 vessels. This will increase its total capacity from 3.04 million DWT to 3.37 million DWT.

The company stated that this expansion is a key part of its strategy to strengthen its market position in both the dry bulk and tanker sectors, driven by the increasing global demand for shipping.
