Global Bunker Indices to Trend Higher on Feb. 08

MABUX World Bunker Index (as index calculated based on current prices for 380 HSFO, VLSFO, and MGO) continued a slight upward movement on Feb.07:

380 HSFO – USD/MT – 509.04 (+3.35)

VLSFO – USD/MT – 664.00 (+3.43)

MGO – USD/MT – 904.40 (+1.76)

As of Feb.07, the MABUX MBP/DBP Index (MDI), tracking the correlation between market bunker prices (MBP) and the MABUX digital bunker price benchmark (DBP), observed the following trends at four selected ports: Rotterdam, Singapore, Fujairah, and Houston.

– HSFO segment: All four selected ports remained in the undercharge zone, with the underprice premium narrowing by $5 in Rotterdam, while widening by $1 in Singapore and by $1 in Houston. The MDI index in Fujairah stayed unchanged at the $100 mark.

– VLSFO segment: Three selected ports were in the overcharged zone, with the overprice ratio decreasing further by $3 in Singapore, $2 in Fujairah, and $5 in Houston. Rotterdam remained the only undercharged port, with the underprice premium widening further by $2.

– MGO LS segment: Houston was the only overcharged port in this fuel segment, with the overcharge margin decreasing further by $11. The other three selected ports were undercharged, with premiums rising by $13 in Rotterdam, $18 in Singapore, and $23 in Fujairah. The MDI index in Rotterdam broke through the $100 mark.

We expect an upward trend to continue in the Global bunker market on Feb. 08: 380 HSFO – plus 1-3 USD/MT, VLSFO – plus 1-4 USD/MT, MGO LS – plus 3-18 USD/MT.
