DNV GL has signed a partnership agreement with the Green Award Foundation at Posidonia today to promote the highest standards of safety, quality and sustainability in shipping.  DNV GL will become an incentive provider for the Green Award scheme and offer discounts for shipowners and managers who hold the Green Award certificate.  The Green Award Foundation is an independent quality assurance organization that certifies shipping companies and vessels which exceed industry standards.  It works with incentive providers from all over the maritime sector to offer certificate holders benefits such as discounts on port dues, products and services.

Green Award:

  • Companies gets a 10 per cent discount on training courses delivered by the DNV GL Academy worldwide.
  • The certificate holders and their vessels also receive a 10 per cent discount on audits related to environmental standards such as ISO 14000 and ISO 50001.
  • The Scheme works to enhance the environmental and safety performance of ships and to promote the highest quality standards.
  • Covers a wide range of subjects: from emissions reduction and sewage handling to the human factor, and from noise issues and equipment maintenance to management standards on shore.
