Reduced Emissions

China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Yangzhou) Dingheng has entered the Swedish DONSO Island market through its collaboration with Terntank.

This partnership highlights the shipyard’s commitment to green shipping through reduced carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxide emissions.

The collaboration will expand to include methanol-powered ships with the operation of “TERN VIK” and “TERN LAND,” contributing to the global shipping industry’s carbon neutrality goals.

Terntank’s fleet includes:

  • 11 15,000DWT dual-fuel chemical tankers, including 6 first-generation LNG dual-fuel propulsion system ships, delivered between 2014 and 2020.
    • These first-generation ships feature the “world’s first two-stroke dual-fuel power technology” and “direct drive permanent magnet shaft generator technology.”
    • They were recognized as the World Ship of the Year in 2016 and received the IGS Award for Outstanding Contribution to Green Shipping.
  • 5 second-generation ships, equipped with sail-assisted propulsion and methanol dual-fuel-ready engines.
    • These ships can use Marine Gas Oil (MGO), biofuels, and methanol.
    • They incorporate a Hybrid power system and shore power technology.
    • Their Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) is 40% lower than the 2025 Phase 3 standards.
    • They were awarded the “Next Generation Ship” award at Nor-Shipping 2023.
