Grounding on the Danube

On August 24, 2017, the cargo ship “Quadro” ran aground on the Danube.

The vessel was loaded with 550 tons steel and had a cargo of 550 tons steel on board. It reportedly suffered a technical malfunction and subsequent rudder failure so that it veered to starboard and got stock on a rock.

The vessel was enroute from Deggendorf to Straubing underneath of Pfelling short time after having passed Bogen when the incident reportedly happened.

Emergency support arrived was from Passau to refloat the barge on August 25. Ship traffic was hampered at the accident site.
