Idan Ofer’s Eastern Pacific Shipping has taken delivery of the first out of two LNG-powered Suezmax tankers from China’s Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI), says an article published in LNG Prime.

World’s first oil tanker

GSI claims the 158,000-dwt Greenway is the world’s first LNG dual-fuel Suezmax oil tanker.

The CSSC-controlled shipbuilder floated out this vessel on December 31, followed by its sister vessel Starway on March 22.

Classed by ABS, the vessels are about 274 meters long and 48 meters wide, and feature MAN ME-GI engines and two type C LNG tanks.

Biggest stake

EPS placed this order at GSI in December 2019 for about $72 million per ship, according to VesselsValue.

The shipping firm is building a huge fleet of LNG-powered vessels, including bulk carriers, tankers, pure car and truck carriers, and containerships.

EPS also owns LNG carriers and has the biggest stake in new LNG shipping firm CoolCo.
