GTT, in collaboration with Nikkiso Clean Energy & Industrial Gases, has received an order from a Chinese shipyard to equip ten LNG-fuelled container ships with GTT’s Recycool™ system, an advanced passive boil-off gas management solution. This order marks a significant step in the broader adoption of Recycool™ by shipowners, expanding GTT’s offering beyond its traditional membrane technology expertise.
Recycool™ Technology Overview
Recycool™ is an eco-friendly system designed to liquefy excess boil-off gas from LNG-fuelled ships with high-pressure engines. It recovers cold energy from LNG before it is vaporized and sent to the engine, reducing CO2 emissions. Recycool™ is simple in design and currently operational on multiple ships, demonstrating its potential to enhance the environmental performance of any LNG-fuelled vessel.
Partnership Between GTT and Nikkiso
GTT and Nikkiso have entered into a strategic partnership to fully integrate Recycool™ into Nikkiso’s High Pressure skid. This collaboration will result in an efficient, compact, and cost-effective reliquefaction system for LNG-fuelled container ships.
