  • GTT becomes the world’s largest provider of maritime performance management solutions, with digital services now reaching over 17,000 vessels globally.
  • Two new dedicated divisions—Performance & Monitoring Solutions and Safety & Equipment—will drive focused innovation in efficiency and onboard safety.
  • Immediate financial upside expected, with the acquisition set to be earnings-accretive from year one, strengthening GTT’s position in the maritime digitalization race.

Gaztransport & Technigaz (GTT) has completed its acquisition of Danelec, a leading provider of maritime digital solutions. This strategic move significantly expands GTT’s digital portfolio and positions the company as a global leader in vessel performance management and maritime digitalization.

Strengthening Market Leadership

The acquisition of Danelec is a key milestone in GTT’s strategy to enhance its presence in the maritime technology space. By integrating Danelec’s expertise in data collection and voyage data recorders (VDRs) with GTT’s existing digital assets, including Ascenz Marorka and Vessel Performance Solutions, the group now services more than 17,000 vessels worldwide. This makes GTT the largest player in the maritime digital performance sector and a major force in the VDR market.

The deal is expected to be immediately accretive to GTT’s earnings per share, underscoring its financial and strategic value. Operational synergies from the combined digital platforms will enable faster innovation and broader customer reach. With a larger fleet under digital monitoring, GTT will be better equipped to deliver actionable insights, improve vessel efficiency, and support regulatory compliance.

Enhanced Focus on Performance and Safety

Following the acquisition, GTT has reorganized its digital business into two dedicated units. The “Performance & Monitoring Solutions” division will focus on vessel optimization, emissions reduction, and data analytics. Meanwhile, the “Safety & Equipment” division will handle critical systems such as voyage data recorders and onboard safety technology. This structure ensures a targeted approach to both operational performance and maritime safety.

As part of the integration, Danelec’s former CEO, Casper Jensen, has been appointed Executive Vice President Digital at GTT and will serve on the company’s executive committee. His leadership will help drive GTT’s digital strategy and ensure continuity across the newly combined teams. Additional senior leadership appointments further strengthen the management of each digital division.

Paving the Way for a Digital Maritime Future

This acquisition reflects GTT’s long-term vision to become a one-stop provider for digital maritime solutions. With expanded access to operational data and a growing suite of integrated tools, GTT is uniquely positioned to help shipowners optimize performance, reduce emissions, and meet evolving regulatory demands. The move also highlights a broader industry trend toward consolidation and integrated digital ecosystems.
