GTT Receives Orders for LNG Carrier Tank Designs from Two Korean Shipyards

86

In the third quarter of 2024, GTT announced two major orders from Korean shipyards for the design of tanks for eight new Liquefied Natural Gas Carriers (LNGCs). Both orders were placed on behalf of an undisclosed ship owner.

Samsung Heavy Industries to Build Four LNGCs

The first order involves Samsung Heavy Industries constructing four LNGCs, each with a total capacity of 174,000 m³. These vessels will feature the Mark III Flex membrane containment system, a technology developed by GTT. Delivery of these ships is expected between the second and third quarters of 2028.

Second Order for Four More LNGCs from Another Korean Shipyard

A second order, placed with another Korean shipyard, also includes the construction of four LNGCs. These vessels, also with a total capacity of 174,000 m³, will be fitted with a membrane containment system from GTT’s NO96 series. Deliveries are scheduled between the second and fourth quarters of 2028.

These orders reflect GTT’s ongoing role in providing advanced containment systems for the LNG shipping industry.
