French engineering firm GTT has secured a new order in the fourth quarter of 2025 for the tank design of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier, reinforcing its strong position in the global LNG shipping market. The order was placed by HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE) and reflects continued investment in modern LNG carrier construction.
Vessel Details and Technical Specifications
The LNG carrier will be constructed by Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries for ship-owner Hyundai Glovis. Designed with a total cargo capacity of 174,000 cubic metres, the vessel will be equipped with GTT’s Mark III Flex membrane containment system, a widely adopted technology known for its enhanced safety, flexibility, and thermal efficiency in cryogenic cargo transport. Delivery of the vessel is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2028.
Strengthening Global LNG Infrastructure
GTT, headquartered in France, specializes in advanced containment systems for the transport and storage of liquefied gases across maritime and onshore applications. Its membrane technologies are a cornerstone of modern LNG shipping. Meanwhile, HD KSOE, a South Korea–registered industrial holding company, coordinates shipbuilding and offshore engineering activities across the Hyundai group, playing a central role in global ship construction and energy infrastructure development.
This latest order highlights sustained confidence in LNG as a key transitional fuel and underscores GTT’s continued relevance in next-generation gas carrier design. The collaboration between GTT, HD KSOE, and Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries reflects ongoing momentum in the LNG sector, driven by demand for efficient, technologically advanced, and environmentally optimized shipping solutions.
