GTT has announced a fresh order in the fourth quarter of 2025 from HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE) for the design of LNG tanks for two new Liquefied Natural Gas Carriers (LNGCs). The vessels will be constructed at Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries (HSHI) for ship-owner BW LNG, further strengthening long-standing collaborations across the LNG value chain.
Advanced Mark III Flex Technology for Newbuild LNGCs
The two LNG carriers will feature GTT’s Mark III Flex membrane containment system, a proven cryogenic technology that offers enhanced thermal performance and optimized cargo capacity. This system continues to be a preferred choice for modern LNG carriers due to its reliability, reduced boil-off rate, and compatibility with high-efficiency propulsion systems.
Strategic Partnership Between Leading Industry Players
The project brings together three major players in the LNG shipping sector: HD KSOE as the contracting entity, HSHI as the builder, and BW LNG as the vessel owner. Their continued collaboration highlights strong global demand for next-generation LNG tonnage. Delivery of the vessels is planned for the fourth quarter of 2028, supporting fleet expansion strategies aligned with long-term LNG market growth.
This latest order reinforces GTT’s position as a leader in LNG containment technologies and marks another milestone in its partnerships with HD KSOE, HSHI, and BW LNG. With delivery set for 2028, the new LNG carriers will contribute to the expanding global fleet equipped with efficient and advanced LNG storage solutions.
