Hanwha Ocean has secured a significant order for two LNG carriers worth 713.5 billion won from Maran Gas Maritime Inc., a subsidiary of Greece’s largest shipping company, the Angelicoussis Group. The announcement was made on Nov. 11, with the vessels scheduled for delivery in 2027. This contract also includes an option for two additional vessels, indicating potential future orders and further strengthening the long-standing partnership between the two companies, reports Business Korea.
Large-scale Vessels
The newly ordered LNG carriers are large-scale vessels with a capacity of 174,000㎥. They will be constructed at Hanwha Ocean’s Geoje Shipyard in South Gyeongsang Province and will feature the company’s renowned natural gas propulsion engine (ME-GI) and a full re-liquefaction system (FRS).
This year alone, Hanwha Ocean has secured orders for 39 vessels, including 19 LNG carriers and LNG-FSRUs, 7 very large crude carriers (VLCCs), 6 container ships, 3 ammonia carriers, 1 offshore unit, and 3 special-purpose ships.
