  • HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE), HD Hyundai Robotics, Persona AI, and Vazil Company signed an agreement to work together on humanoid robots.
  • Prototype humanoid robots will be prepared by the end of 2026, with testing and commercial use starting in 2027.
  • The robots will be utilized in shipyards, making this a major step for Persona AI in proving their technology in real-world environments.

HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE) and HD Hyundai Robotics have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Persona AI and Vazil Company to develop advanced humanoid robots. Announced at a formal ceremony in Houston, Texas, the partnership aims to create robots capable of handling complex welding tasks in challenging shipyard environments.

Human-Machine Teamwork Set to Reshape Shipyards

The four Companies have formed a strategic partnership to launch a new era of collaboration between humans and machines. The mutual initiative aims to deliver prototype humanoid robots by the end of 2026, with field testing and full commercial deployment anticipated in 2027.

The focus of this partnership is to develop humanoid robots equipped with advanced artificial intelligence and robotic systems designed for high-precision welding. These robots are expected to increase productivity and improve workplace safety in shipyard environments.

As part of the agreement, Persona AI will lead the design and development of humanoid hardware and AI-powered control and learning algorithms. Vazil Company will build advanced welding tools and create an industrial testing environment. HD KSOE will provide real-world deployment support and share field engineering data from shipyards. HD Hyundai Robotics will supply welding-path AI training data and validate robotic performance.

Company Executives About the Importance of the Collaboration

HD KSOE’s Senior Vice President underlined that humanoid welding robots will not only improve productivity but also reduce physical stress on workers and ensure safety. Persona AI’s CEO indicated the urgent need for autonomous, rugged humanoids in heavy industries facing labor shortages, especially in high-risk jobs like welding.

HD Hyundai Robotics’ Vice President explained that, unlike traditional robots, these humanoids need to observe, reason, and make decisions. Vazil Company’s CTO stated that precision welding humanoids will significantly advance shipyard automation.
