HD Hyundai Mipo continues to strengthen its orderbook with new vessel contracts and notable project milestones, underlining its growing influence in the global shipbuilding market.

New Boxship Order from Asia

In a recent stock exchange filing, HD Hyundai Mipo revealed it has received a KRW 159.3 billion (approximately $111.08 million) order from an undisclosed Asian company. The contract covers the construction of two boxships, with delivery scheduled by the end of May 2027. Further specifications about the vessels remain undisclosed at this time.

Additional LPG Carrier Order

Just days earlier, HD Hyundai Mipo clinched another significant order for two liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carriers, valued at KRW 230.6 billion. These vessels, reportedly ordered by Netherlands-based Nieto Trading, are slated for delivery in July 2027, further expanding the shipbuilder’s gas carrier portfolio.

Launch of World’s Largest Liquefied CO₂ Carrier

In related developments, the Ulsan-based shipbuilder successfully launched a 22,000 cbm liquefied CO₂ carrier, described as the “world’s largest.” Ordered by Greek shipping company Capital Clean Energy Carriers, this vessel is the first of four identical units under construction.
The 159.9-meter-long ship is equipped with three Bi-lobe type storage tanks designed to maintain a low temperature of -55℃ and a pressure five times that of the atmosphere. This engineering feat allows the ship to transport not only liquefied CO₂ but also other liquefied gases such as LPG and ammonia.
