HD Hyundai Samho Wins US$506m LNG Ship Order from North America

HD Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Co. has secured a 741.2 billion-won (US$506 million) order to build two liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers for a shipper in North America, reports Yonhap News Agency.

The two LNG carriers will be delivered to the undisclosed shipping company by December 2028, the company said in a regulatory filing.

HD Hyundai Samho Heavy is one of three affiliates of HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering Co. (HD KSOE), along with HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. and HD Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co.

HD KSOE is a subholding company of HD Hyundai Co., South Korea’s leading shipbuilding group. HD Hyundai Mipo is scheduled to merge into HD Hyundai Heavy next month.

With the latest contract, HD KSOE has secured $14.24 billion worth of ship orders so far this year, achieving 78.9 percent of its annual order target of $18.05 billion.
