On September 4, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, which is the intermediate holding company for HD Hyundai’s shipbuilding division, announced that it has inked a deal with a shipping company based in Africa to construct two oil tankers, as reported by CHOSUNBIZ. The contract is worth 242.2 billion won, and the tankers will be built at HD Hyundai Samho, with delivery scheduled to happen sequentially by December 2027. The name of the African shipping company hasn’t been revealed, reports Port News.
Orderbook Performance in 2025
With this latest contract, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering has now secured agreements for the construction of 84 vessels this year alone. The total value of these orders has reached $11.45 billion, which accounts for 63.4% of its annual goal of $18.05 billion.

- 5 liquefied natural gas carriers
- 6 LNG bunkering vessels
- 8 liquefied petroleum gas and ammonia carriers
- 2 ethane carriers
- 50 container carriers
