HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering Co. (HD KSOE) has secured a substantial order for 12 liquefied natural gas (LNG) dual-fuel container ships, valued at 3.716 trillion won ($2.6 billion). Eco-friendly Vessels
This marks the company’s first order of 2025. The identity of the vessel owner has not been disclosed. The vessels will be constructed at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. in Ulsan and are scheduled for delivery by December 2028.
These ships will be equipped with eco-friendly LNG dual-fuel propulsion engines, reflecting the growing demand for environmentally sustainable vessels. Driven by strengthened decarbonization regulations within the shipping industry, orders for eco-friendly vessels are expected to increase. HD KSOE aims to secure $180.05 billion worth of orders this year, representing a 33.7% increase compared to last year’s order intake of $13.5 billion.
