HD KSOE’s Affiliate Wins US$250m LNG Ship Order in Asia

HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering Co. (HD KSOE) said its affiliate has secured a 367.2 billion-won (US$250 million) order for a liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier from a shipper in Asia, reads a Yonhap News Agency release.

HD Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Co. will deliver the LNG carrier to the unspecified client by December 2028, the company said in a regulatory filing.

HD KSOE, a subholding company under HD Hyundai Co., oversees two shipbuilding affiliates, including HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Co.

HD Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co. was merged into HD Hyundai Heavy Industries on Monday.

Following the integration, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries said it aims to achieve 37 trillion won in sales by 2035 by expanding into new business areas, including the U.S. defense market and special-purpose vessels such as icebreakers.

For all of 2024, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and the former HD Hyundai Mipo Dockyard posted 14.5 trillion won and 4.63 trillion won in sales, respectively.

HD KSOE has won $16.52 billion worth of vessel orders so far this year, achieving 91.5 percent of its annual target of $18.05 billion. Container ships accounted for 71 of the 117 vessels ordered during the period.
