In a recent development, the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) launched its Crew Change service. Since its introduction on November 1, this service has registered an amazing demand. The service is one of the integral parts of the maritime and logistical suite of services the SCA offers to vessels crossing through the Canal, reports SCA.

Service Locations and Key Features

The Crew Change service is provided at several strategic locations, including the Suez Canal Yacht Marina at Ismailia, Lake Timsah, and the waiting area in the Great Bitter Lakes. The service is available to all types of vessels and marine units transiting the Canal in both directions.

State-of-the-art launches designed to meet international maritime safety standards facilitate the service. By equipping the launches with advanced systems, the process offers effective and secure operations, which has even earned the service STASCO accreditation. In addition to the crew change, the service renders refuelling, luggage transfer, and other logistics in coordinating with the maritime agencies.

Online Booking and Payment Process

The SCA has implemented an electronic system on its website through which one can make a booking online. Maritime agencies may request the Crew Change service online after which required measures are taken with the concerned authorities. Such a service is done and fees are collected at Ismailia’s Suez Canal Yacht Marina. The charges are collected based on the time taken for the process, which is calculated from the moment the launch departs to its return.

Compliance with International Standards

The Crew Change service aligns with the initiatives of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to promote faster, safer, and more seamless crew changes. The advanced capabilities of the newly-built launches ensure adherence to the highest safety standards, reinforcing the service’s reputation for reliability and efficiency.

Recent Service Highlights

In recent days, the Suez Canal Yacht Marina successfully conducted Crew Change on the fuel tanker Olivia at Lake Timsah. The bulk carrier ASPARUKH at the Great Bitter Lakes.

Improvements at the Suez Canal Yacht Marina

The Suez Canal Yacht Marina at Ismailia is well-designed with modern facilities for high-quality service delivery. It has safe quays for embarking and disembarking, comfortable waiting and resting areas, and cafeterias to ensure that both crew and maritime agencies go about their duties in a hassle-free and comfortable manner.

Once again, the SCA makes efforts to improve the maritime experience relating to vessels transiting through the Suez Canal by introducing this new service in its operation.
