On August 23, Hengli Heavy Industries Group and Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) formalized a strategic cooperation framework agreement in Geneva, Switzerland. This partnership will enable comprehensive collaboration between the two companies across various sectors, including new shipbuilding, engine production, ship repair, and retrofitting.

Commitment to Mutual Growth

Under the agreement, both Hengli Heavy Industries and MSC will leverage their unique strengths based on principles of voluntariness, equality, and mutual benefit. This strategic partnership is designed to be long-term and stable, fostering mutual development and success.

Hengli Heavy Industries’ Expansion and Innovation

Since becoming fully operational, Hengli Heavy Industries has consistently enhanced its production capabilities and efficiency. The company recently launched the second phase of its development project, which began earlier this month. This phase is focused on manufacturing high value-added green ships and advanced offshore equipment. The production portfolio includes very large oil tankers, very large liquefied gas carriers (VLGC), very large container ships, FPSOs, offshore floating wind power units, and drilling platforms. The goal is to establish a modern, intelligent, and green manufacturing hub for ship and offshore equipment production.

Future Production Capabilities

Once fully operational, Hengli Heavy Industries anticipates processing 2.3 million tons of steel annually and producing 180 engines. The facility will support the production of four types of dual-fuel engines—LNG, LPG, methanol, and ammonia—ensuring full coverage and advancing the industry’s shift towards sustainable energy sources.
