Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) has received technology validation for its dual-fuel methanol engine from seven classification societies.
Global classification societies including ABS, BV, DNV, NK, LR, RINA, and KR gave a nod to the type approval test (TAT) for this engine, the South Korean firm said.
New development
HHI is also developing a dual-fuel engine that can run on conventional marine fuels and ammonia. Testing for this engine is scheduled for the second half of this year.
