The Approval in Principle ceremony for the retrofit design of a 16,000 TEU containership fueled by methanol took place in December. It is another important milestone toward decarbonization. The synergistic effect was put together by HD Hyundai Marine Solution, HD Hynda E & T and the eminent South Korean shipbuilding firm, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering Co.(HD KSOE).

At the same time, South Korean shipping company HMM clinches an unprecedented agreement with China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) for up to ten 108TEU LNG dual-fuel car-carrying vessels. This move will foster a more environmentally friendly shipping industry and reflects HMM’s commitment to sustainability.
