- Shipping Companies Banned from Red Sea for Violating Blockade.
- HOCC Targets Fleets Linked to Israeli Port Calls.
- Yemeni Forces Warn of Action Against Sanctioned Vessels.
The Humanitarian Operations Coordination Centre (HOCC) has taken a strong stance by imposing sanctions on 64 companies that have flouted the naval blockade against the Israeli occupation entity, reports SABA.
Companies Ignored Warnings Before Entering Israeli Ports
According to HOCC, since the blockade was implemented, they have contacted shipping companies whose vessels have violated the restrictions. These companies received pre-penalty notices but chose to enter Israeli ports anyway, ignoring the warnings.
Sanctioned Fleets Banned from Major Maritime Routes
As a consequence of these violations, all fleets belonging to the 64 sanctioned companies are now prohibited from navigating through the Red Sea, the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, the Gulf of Aden, and the Arabian Sea. Furthermore, these fleets are deemed legitimate targets for the Yemeni Armed Forces in any area they can reach.
Ongoing Warnings to Avoid Further Breaches
The HOCC is still actively sending pre-penalty notices to companies with vessels heading toward Israeli ports. These warnings are intended to minimise future violations and the associated risk of sanctions.
Violators Held Fully Accountable
The centre has made it clear that the sanctioned companies are fully accountable for the repercussions of their actions. They also emphasised that the sanctions apply regardless of the nationality of the company involved.
Sanctions Intended to Pressure Israel Over Gaza
The HOCC stated that this sanction campaign is part of a larger effort to pressure the Israeli occupation to cease its aggression and lift the blockade on Gaza. Reports suggest that some global shipping companies have begun severing ties with the sanctioned firms and are excluding Israel from their trade routes.
