Cassar Shipyards in Marsa witnessed an accident.  A worker was injured earlier today at around noon when a high-pressure hose aboard the ship burst.

There was a loud noise that sounded like an explosion.  Emergency vehicles, including an ambulance and Police Crime Scene Investigation vehicles showed up on site some minutes later.

A police spokesperson said the man was working inside the seawater tank of a vessel berthed in the facility when a high-pressure pipe burst injuring the man.

The man hurt his back but his injuries were not thought to be serious.  Cross Road in Marsa was closed but now has been reopened to traffic.
